Instagram Data Notice

This notice acts as an extension to the Scout Privacy Notice. It applies to ambassadors who choose to connect their Instagram account to the Scout ambassador dashboard, so that the views of their Reels can be shown there. Connecting is optional.

What Scout Reads

When you connect, you log in on Instagram itself and choose to allow Scout. Scout never sees your Instagram password. Scout asks Instagram for two permissions, and reads only this:

• Your profile: your username, your Instagram account ID and whether it is a Business or Creator account (permission: instagram_business_basic).
• A list of your recent posts: each post's ID, link, date and caption (permission: instagram_business_basic).
• The numbers for your Reels: views, likes, comments and shares (permission: instagram_business_manage_insights).

Scout does not post, comment, send messages, follow anyone, or change anything on your account, and does not read your messages or your followers' information.

How Scout Uses It

Scout uses this information only to run the ambassador program: to show you how your Reels are doing in your dashboard, and to show the Scout team the views of the videos you made for Scout so they can see how the program is working and check that a link you added is your own post. We do not sell it and we do not use it for advertising.

How Long We Keep It

The access Instagram gives Scout (a token) is stored encrypted and is removed when you disconnect, when you remove Scout in Instagram's settings, or when you ask us to delete your data. The numbers Scout has read for your posts stay with those posts while you are an ambassador, and are removed when you ask us to delete your data.

Disconnecting and Deleting Your Data

You can stop this at any time, in any of these ways:

• In your ambassador dashboard, on the Videos tab, choose Disconnect. Scout can no longer read your Instagram.
• In Instagram, open Settings, then Apps and websites (or Website permissions), and remove Scout. Instagram tells Scout, and your connection is removed right away.
• To have the information Scout read from your Instagram deleted as well, remove Scout in Instagram and ask Instagram to delete your data, or email us at support@shoponscout.com. When Instagram sends us the request, your token and the numbers read from your Instagram are deleted immediately and you receive a confirmation code on this page. By email, we respond within 30 days.

Disconnecting does not delete the video links you added yourself. You can ask us to remove those too.
