Live Shopping Standards

Last updated: June 4, 2026

Scout Live is a real-time video shopping experience. These standards exist to keep every session safe, trustworthy, and enjoyable for everyone — whether you're hosting, bidding, or watching. All participants in a Scout Live session are expected to follow these standards, in addition to Scout's Terms of Service.

Violations may result in session termination, account restrictions, or permanent suspension, depending on severity.

For Hosts

As a host, you are responsible for your session from the moment you go live until it ends. All of the following standards apply in addition to the Seller Policy.

Active Presence

You must be actively present and engaged for the duration of your session. Inactive sessions — including sessions displaying a blank or frozen screen for an extended period, or sessions where the host is absent for extended periods — may be ended by Scout without notice.

Prohibited Content

Your stream may not display or involve pornographic or sexually explicit material; hate speech or content targeting individuals based on race, gender, religion, sexual orientation, or other protected characteristics; content promoting or glorifying violence or self-harm; or any content prohibited by Scout's Terms of Service. Scout may end your session immediately if these standards are violated.

Reckless Behavior

Hosts may not engage in dangerous, reckless, or illegal activities during a live session. Sessions may be ended immediately by Scout if a host appears incapacitated, operates a vehicle while streaming, or otherwise loses control of their stream.

Shill Bidding

Sellers may not place bids, or arrange for others (including employees, family members, household members, or associates) to place bids, on their own live auction items for the purpose of artificially inflating prices. Shill bidding is prohibited and may also violate laws in your jurisdiction. Scout monitors all bids and will take action on accounts suspected of shill bidding.

Off-Platform Transactions

Sellers may not use Scout Live to solicit or redirect buyers to transactions on any platform other than Scout, including in chat, on screen, or through verbal communication during a session.

Buyer Privacy

Sellers may not publicly share, display, or read aloud any buyer's personal information — including their name, shipping address, or payment details — during a live session.

For Viewers & Bidders

All Bids Are Binding

All bids are binding. Placing a bid is a commitment to purchase at that price if you are the highest bidder when the auction ends. Your saved payment method will be charged automatically — you will not be prompted to confirm.

Troll Bidding

Viewers may not place bids with no intention to purchase, or place excessively high bids intended to disrupt the seller. Troll bidding will result in account action and potential liability for the winning bid amount.

Chat Conduct

Chat participants must not share other users' personal information, engage in hate speech, harassment, spam, or self-promotional content unrelated to the session. Hosts may remove users from their sessions at any time.

Recording & Privacy

Live sessions on Scout are recorded. Short video clips ("video receipts") are generated automatically at the close of each auction as proof of purchase for both the buyer and seller. By participating in a live session — as a host, bidder, or viewer — you consent to being recorded and to the use of that recording for platform purposes, including dispute resolution.
